Why Resolutions Fail

Are you the “New Year, New Me” type of New Year’s resolution setter? Well, maybe it’s time to start thinking differently about weight loss.  Weighless MD is here to tell you why you shouldn’t be making resolutions and investing in your health only at the start of a New Year.

Why should you invest in your health and set small goals all year long you might ask? By investing in your health all year long you can prepare yourself to make small changes one step at a time.  Don’t rely on will power!  Be realistic with the goals you set, as it’s not about immediate perfection.

Year after year people set unrealistic goals to lose weight and they end up doing the same thing over and over again, hoping that this time there may be a different outcome. Restricting calories, assuming that weight loss is fat and not muscle or water, eating too frequently, and not addressing foundational issues are a large part of why New Year’s resolutions fail when it comes to weight loss.

Do you  want to know another reason why weight loss resolutions fail? People assume all diets work everybody and only fail because of a lack of willpower. Wrong! Did you know that if you don’t have a gallbladder you shouldn’t do the Keto Diet? Or that Vegan Diets are difficult for diabetics? Or how about the fact that high protein diets are not good for people with gut issues? If you answered no to all of those, you probably should not be making weight loss resolutions on your own.

Weight loss is complex and you must be strategic about lifestyle and nutritional changes. Working with nutritional experts who can help you to make and maintain achievable goals will save you time, money and frustrations. Weighless MD focuses on the specific needs of each individual.  We know and understand that not every diet is going to work for everyone. That’s why we take the time to set realistic goals, dig deeper into the foundational issues of weight loss, don’t expect perfection from our patients, and help you to understand the importance of the foods you put in your body and the role it plays on your health.

While Weighless MD offers a magnitude of different weight loss programs, we also focus on the importance of beginning a weight loss journey, as well as helping you to maintain the results you worked so hard to achieve. So, the next time you feel defeated because you didn’t achieve your New Year’s resolution, remember that weight loss is meant to be something that takes time, deserves dedication, and thought.
